The Managing Partner of Solina Health, a healthcare consulting firm, Mr Muyi Aina has called on Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to help the government in achieving accurate accountability of funds released for Routine Immunisation.

In an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Mr Aina noted that the CSOs engagement was highly important because it would reduce the major problems in achieving effective routine immunisation.

“Beyond making money available, there must be accountability at all levels in terms of performance and audit. This accountability will also cover how the vaccine will be distributed when they are bought.

“Even if we have agreement with donors to continue to fund routine immunisation, we still need to put in more effort to ensure that we can afford vaccine procurement without external help.

“It is also important to know how to articulate immunisation goals in a language that speaks volume of the donor’s currency, which can be done with the use of data,” Aina said.

According to him, the advocacy on accountability for routine immunisation will ensure that government at all levels understands the importance of immunisation. He added that data and performance management when properly documented would increase the donor’s value for money
