Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi says his administration is committed to the provision of affordable, quality healthcare for residents of the state.

He spoke on Monday in his office when he received delegations from Access to Basic Medical Care Foundation (ABC) and Jesus House of UK.

Newsmen report that ABC and Jesus House Healthcare Mission are partnering the state government to offer free healthcare services to 2,500 inhabitants of the state.

The partnership was facilitated by Wife of the state governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, through ABC, her NGO.

The governor said that over 1.5 million people in the state had been treated free of charge through the free health mission of the present administration in the last seven years.

He said that no fewer than 18,000 residents of the state were screened for cervical cancer, prostate cancer and other life-threatening ailments.

Ajimobi commended the medical team from UK and called on other Nigerians in the Diaspora to participate in the socio-economic development of their respective  states.

He was hopeful that an average of 2500 residents would benefit from the free health  programme.

In her address, Mrs Ajimobi said the programme was initiated to complement the health care delivery system of Oyo State Government.

“The free health care programme would last for five days as minor surgeries, dental care, prostate cancer screening, cervical cancer screening and malaria treatment would be attended to,” she said.
