PCN to seal illegal medicine stores in Bauchi

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has set up a Task Force Committee to seal all unregistered Patent Medicine Stores in Bauchi state.

Chairman of committee, Pharmacist Abdu Sule, disclosed this to newsmen in Bauchi during inspection tour of patent medicine stores in the state.

He said of the over 2000 patent medicine stores in the state, only 30 per cent have genuinely registered with the council, while the remaining are operating without registration.

The committee Chairman who was represented by Pharmacist Jibrin Aliyu Tafida, said drugs business should be regulated and sold by approved and registered professionals.

He said: “We want to assure all those in the business or operating medicine stores t ensure they are dully registered, we are regulatory body and we will not allowed things to go unchecked.”

Pharmacist Tafida added that after the sealing of unregistered stores in the state metropolis, the committee will also visited the local government areas for the exercise.

PCN Officer in the state, Pharmacist Bakwa Nenlep said his office is inspecting and sensitizing vendors and proprietors of medicine storeson how to run the business within the stipulated rules and regulations.
