The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has received a delegation from the Association for the advancement of Family planning (AAFP) at its Abuja National Office.
The strategic visit by AAFP aimed at strengthening collaboration, reinforcing advocacy efforts in family planning financing, and commitment to the Nigeria Acceleration Plan for the Every Woman, Every Newborn Everywhere (EWENE).
The delegation led by Chairman of AAFP, Dr Ejike Oji, also included the Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN), Dr. Okai Abubakar Haruna Aku.
The visit followed AHBNโs active participation in and contributions to the success of the 8th Nigeria Family Planning Conference, where stakeholders gathered to assess progress, challenges, and opportunities in advancing family planning initiatives in Nigeria.
Recognizing AHBNโs role, the AAFP delegation sought to further engage and express their appreciation for its unwavering support.
Key recommendations from the visit emphasised the need for targeted advocacy toward key lawmakers to ensure improved budgetary commitments to family planning.
AHBN said it remains committed to championing increased investments in reproductive health, recognising that adequate funding is crucial to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
