The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), says Nigerians should hold states accountable for resources sent to support the COVID-19 vaccination activities.
The Executive Director, NPHCDA, Dr Faisal Shuaib, who made the call in an interview, said that the COVID-19 vaccines remained free and efficacious.
According to him, the COVID-19 Vaccines do not hurt or make anyone sick, saying that the mild side effects such as fatigue, headache, chills, slight fever and pain or numbness at the site of vaccination may occur and disappear within a day or two.
He said “Individual reacts to vaccines differently. However, in case you observe any reactions after vaccination, contact the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer whose phone number is on your vaccination card or report to your healthcare provider.”
According to him, “It’s our collective duty to tell everyone around us the benefits of immunisation, so as to build a healthy community.
“Remember, immunisation helps to build population herd immunity against vaccine preventable diseases.”
He said that the Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccine is available at all vaccination sites nationwide, saying this vaccine requires only one dose to be fully vaccinated.
“The best time to get vaccinated is now,” he urged.
According to report, as at March 1, only 68.7 million of total eligible persons targeted for COVID-19 vaccination have been fully vaccinated, while 11.7 million of the total eligible persons targeted were partially vaccinated.
