The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) will partner with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to further support women journalists to raise more visibility on issues related to health and other development agendas.
Founder of AHBN, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, disclosed this when he received the new executive council of the Abuja Chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) who paid a courtesy and advocacy visit to the AHBN Headquarters in Abuja.
The team led by the chairperson, Mrs Bassey Ikpang had during the meeting deliberated on exploring partnership and collaboration between NAWOJ and AHBN to further support women journalists.
Receiving the NAWOJ team, Dr Magashi pledged to support NAWOJ Abuja chapter through providing trainings support to the new executive council on governance and leadership for effective reporting.
He said that the AHBN will support NAWOJ to commission annual awards for best performing women journalists in reporting for Immunization, women’s health and education.
“AHBN is to support the NAWOJ with a take off donation to NAWOJ to the tune of N75,0000.
“The AHBN will also support NAWOJ with convening a monthly congress meeting with a sum of N30,000 per meeting to cover logistic for the next 12 months,” he said.
Dr Magashi added that the AHBN will also provide a resource person for the NAWOJ monthly congress meeting to speak on zero dose learning hub and how women journalists can be reporting on zero dose children.
Earlier, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Ikpang described her visit to AHBN Headquarters as truly an honour.
She said the AHBN has undeniably been at the forefront of advocacy, consistently holding stakeholders accountable for healthcare delivery.
“By aligning our efforts with AHBN, we firmly believe that we can amplify our impact. Together, we envision a future where every individual has unfettered access to healthcare.
