AMG Foundation donates drugs to 40 Lafiya Jari Entrepreneurs in Kano

Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation) has donated drugs worth over N1 million naira to 40 Lafiya Jari entrepreneurs in Kano State.

The drugs were donated in an effort to recapitalize their existing patent medicine business and eradicate poverty among the youth.

The drugs were presented to the beneficiaries during the commemoration of the International Day for Eradication of Poverty held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano State.

Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo who represented Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf at the epoch-making event.

Comrade Abdussalam lauded the kind gesture of the AMG Foundation and the numerous philanthropic and humanitarian interventions the foundation is doing in the state.

He called on other philanthropists in the state and beyond to emulate the good gesture of the AMG Foundation.

The deputy governor further urged the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity and boost their business.

On his part, the Chairman of Kano State Lafiya Jari, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Ibrahim thanked the AMG Foundation Chairman, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba for supporting the youth.

He described the distribution of the drugs as timely, considering the numerous economic challenges being face in the country.

In his speech, Dr Magashi pointed out that the intervention is to address youth empowerment, peace and security and sustainable development in the state.

He stressed that it will also re-activate the Lafiya Jari Programme initiated by the Kano State Government in the year 2000, during the administration of former Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

The programme was design to train, empower and provide micro-soft loan and license for youth, especially graduates of school of health technology, medical students to enable them become patent medicine vendors in their respective communities.

The main objective of Lafiya Jari Programme is to provide skills for health workers who are redundant after their various basic training with the hope that they could become self-employed.

It is a mechanism to provide employment to youth while at the same time ensuring the availably of quality drugs at affordable prices in the communities. It also helps in eradicating counterfeits drugs of all forms.

Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMGF) is a non-profit organization that supports humanitarian services, economic empowerment, peace and security, educational growth and innovative health interventions including Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services.

These interventions are not just limited to Kano State where the foundation is based, but cut across other northern states of Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

AMGF’s mission is supporting the less privileged and vulnerable people by improving their socio-economic and health wellbeing as well as promote and enhance opportunities for sustainable growth and development.

The organisation’s vision is to see a society where people are empowered with full access to quality education, affordable healthcare, and access to WASH and Economic Opportunities.
