Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has proposed N90,600,835,766.48, which is 6.5% of the state’s budget, for the health sector.
The 2025 proposed budget tagged “Budget of Hope, Human Capital and Economic Development” has a total allocation of N549.16 billion.
Presenting the proposed budget on Friday, November 8th, 2024 during the Plenary session held at the Chambers of the Kano State House of Assembly, governor Yusuf said the capital component of the budget is estimated at N312,634,912,672.18 while the recurrent component is estimated at N236,525,504,990.82.
The governor maintained that when approved, the budget is projected to have a ratio of capital to recurrent 57:43 percent respectively.
He emphasized that the budget aims to help realize the collective aspiration for Kano State.
“It is our belief that the full and proper implementation of the budget’s provisions will lead to economic prosperity and reduce dependency on federal grants,” he said.
The governor therefore appealed to the Kano law makers to expedite action for the speedy passage of the proposed bill with a view to commence implementation for the benefit of the general public.
In his response, Speaker Falgore thanked the governor for the timely presentation of the bill and gave the assurance to that the law makers will begin deliberations and called on all MDAs to prepare for budget defence before the House.
