AMG Foundation Celebrates 2024 Winners of Late Dr Shehi Ali Annual Award

The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMGF) has celebrated the four winners of the 4th late Dr Shehi Ali Abubakar Annual Award for the year 2024 on Friday at the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) Building in Kano.

Four winners, two Outstanding Resident Doctors of the year 2024 and two Outstanding Radiographers of the year 2024 from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), were honoured and celebrated amidst colleagues, friends and families and development workers during the ceremony.

The recipients of the 2024 awards are; Dr. Abbas Muhammadu Rabi’u (Outstanding Resident Doctor of the Year), Dr.  Nuraddeen Mukhtar Rabi’u (Outstanding Resident Doctor of the Year), Mohammed Sajo (Outstanding Radiographer of the Year) and Aishatu Ahmed Mohammed (Outstanding Radiographer of the Year).

AMG Foundation Director of Operations, Jalo Sulaiman, said the awards comes with cash prizes of N100,000 for each winner of the Outstanding Resident Doctor Award and N75,000 for each winner of Outstanding Radiographer Award.

The occasion was graced by Head the Radiology Department at the AKTH, Dr Yusuf Lawan, Chair of the Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) Board of Trustees, Dr Musa M. Bello, Widow of late Dr Shehi Ali Abubakar, Dr. Zainab Ibrahim, former HOD of Radiology Department at AKTH, Professor Annas Isma’il, and Dr Fatima Ali Abubakar Modibbo, late Shehi Ali’s senior sister among others.

The Award was instituted and celebrated every year by the AMG Foundation in memory of late Dr Shehi Ali Abubakar, a Consultant Radiologist and pioneer Transcranial Doppoler expert.

Late Shehi Ali was a former Chairman, NMA Kano State chapter, former President, Association of Resident Doctors, AKTH and a former board member, Kano Ultra-Modern Specialist Hospitals (KUSH) Board who gave significant contributions for the development of health sector in Kano State.
