Bauchi Reps member pledges support for immunization campaigns

A member representing Ganjuwa/Darazo Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, Hon. Mansur Manu Soro has pledged to collaborate with Ganjuwa Local Government Council to support and promote immunization activities in the LGA.

The lawmaker stated this during a follow up advocacy visit by the Coordinator of the African Health Budget Network (AHBN), Dr Aminu Magashi Garba.

Hon. Soro also pledged for temporary accommodation in 2025, and explore constituency funding in 2026 appropriation for a permanent accommodation for visiting health workers involved in immunization.

Ganjuwa LGA is one of the Zero Dose local government in the state, the Zero Dose Learning Hub Community of practice had earlier visited Kafin Liman PHCC in Ganjuwa to conduct facility-based supervision to track immunization budget, utilization, while entrusting the culture of financial accountability and sustainability in the State.

It is in line with the recommendations made by the local government officials, Dr Magashi alongside the AHBN Zero Dose Advisor, Hon. Mohammed Usman, paid the follow up advocacy to the lawmaker member, to provide accommodation for supervisors and visiting Teams.

In similar development, the Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) Advocacy Team led by the coordinator of AHBN, Dr Aminu Magashi and Hon. Muhammad Usman, also held an advocacy meeting with the member representing Kware/Wamakko Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, Hon. Abdullahi Ahmad Kalambaina at the National Assembly.

The ZDLH advocacy team engaged him on strengthening immunization efforts in Wamakko, among the LGAs with the highest number of Zero Dose children.

The AHBN team shared updates on the Sokoto Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) and emphasized the need for stronger CSO engagement, increased immunization funding, timely fund releases, and greater government accountability to improve transparency in immunization financing.

Hon. Kalambaina highlighted his contributions, including allocating funds in his constituency budget to build PHCs in Wamakko and a laboratory for disease screening and sample collection.

He also agreed to serve as an Immunization Champion, committing to advocate for immunization efforts in Sokoto State.

He further pledged to connect the ZDLH advocacy team with high-level political actors to advance policy implementation, ensure sufficient budget allocations, and drive effective resource utilization.
