AMGF Inaugurates Committee to Enrol Vulnerable People into Kano Healthcare Scheme

The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation) has inaugurated a committee to collaborate with the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) for the enrolment of 150 vulnerable individuals into the KSCHMA healthcare scheme.

AMG Foundation Director of Operations, Jalo Sulaiman, said the committee was inaugurated by the Chair of AMG Foundation and KSCHMA Ambassador, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba at the AHBN Building in Kano.

Dr Magashi congratulated the members of the committee and urged them to work tirelessly and ensure the successful selection of right individuals, registration and quality of service for the beneficiaries.

During the inauguration, Mallam Salisu Umar Durumin Iya, KSCHMA Communication Consultant, in company of Malama Amina Bukar from CHAI presented an overview of identifying vulnerable populations and the enrolment process.

Members of the committee comprises representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the state and the Kano Healthcare Forum.

According to Jalo, the initiative follows the AMG Foundation’s payment of over N1million to KSCHMA last June to cover annual premiums for 100 vulnerable individuals, with KSCHMA generously adding 50 additional slots.

The AMG Foundation’s intervention aims to enrol 500 vulnerable individuals within the next 12 months and promote equitable access to healthcare services and reduce out-of-pocket health expenditures among citizens.

“The 150 slots have been distributed among member organizations for sourcing of the vulnerable individuals as follows; FOCO: 10 slots (in-school orphans); CHR: 10 slots (pregnant women), NYCN Gwale LGA chapter: 10 slots (youth in Gwale LGA), Magashi Development Forum: 10 slots (women including widows and divorcees) and ⁠YOSPIS: 10 slots (in and out-of-school youth).

Others are; WPP: 10 slots (women trained on skills acquisition by WPP), AMMKaS/NCS Kano chapter: 15 slots (cancer survivors), BUK Youth Assembly: 10 slots (youth in and around BUK), ⁠DATOSSA 91: 10 slots (late alumni orphans), V-PeSDI: 10 slots (vulnerable and PWDs), WHDI: 10 slots (vulnerable sick children), AHBN: 10 slots (community members), MG Foundation: 15 slots (community members) and Kano State Healthcare Forum: 10 slots (community members).
