The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation) and the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation have convened a one-day technical workshop on the draft framework for the proposed Kano State Humanitarian Interventions Trust Fund.

A statement by AMG Foundation Director of Operations, Jalo Sulaiman, said the workshop, held on Monday at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Conference Hall, facilitated by Technical Adviser to the Ministry and Chairman of the AMG Foundation, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr Magashi provided an overview of the workshop’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of establishing the Humanitarian Intervention Trust Fund in the state.

The Commissioner of Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, declared the workshop open and expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, for establishing the ministry.

Hon. Kibiya also acknowledged Dr Magashi’s crucial role as the ministry’s technical adviser.

“Today, we gather to take a significant step towards developing the Humanitarian Interventions Trust Fund to support innovative partnerships and financing for humanitarian response, disaster management, and rapid response,” Kibiya stated.

Dr Magashi presented the draft framework of the proposed Kano State Humanitarian Trust Fund and sought input from participants.

Participants from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, government agencies, and development partners were divided into four groups to review each component and provide input.
