Navy provides free medical services to 3000 people in Bauchi

No fewer than 3000 people benefited from free medical services provided by the Nigeria Navy Medical Outreach team in Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi state.

Speaking at the flagging off ceremony of the exercise, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ekwe-Ibas, said the Navy was in Misau to offer a free medical services to residents as its own contribution in addressing some health challenges faced by people of the area.

Represented by the Director Medical Services, Rear Admiral Jeremiah Onubi, the Naval Chief added that the free medical outreach is an integral part of an effort to enhance healthy civil and military relationship and the Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Rear Admiral Onubi stated that the outreach also signifies that the Nigeria Navy is concerned with plight of Nigerian people.

The free medical outreach called Naval Rhapsody 2016 is aimed at offering free medication, blood pressure checks, eye examination and issuance of free eye glasses, de-worming exercise for children and adults, issuance of insecticide treated Mosquito nets to children, pregnant women and nursing mothers, and public talks on health related
cases, malaria, personal and oral hygiene.

“The Naval Rhapsody 2016 provide avenue for Nigerian Navy to get closer to Misau community and its civil populace, to further stimulate the interest of the young ones in the community to aspire for a career in the Nigerian Navy or any other Armed services,” he said.

The Navy Boss implored Misau Community to maximize the benefits of the exercise and also enjoined them to be security conscious, alert the security agencies about unusual happening in the communities including the presence of strange and suspicious persons.

He however commended the the Chairman Senate Committee on Nigerian Navy Senator Isah Hamma Misau,the representing Bauchi Central  for being supportive and encouraging during the exercise.

In his remark, the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian Navy for bringing such gesture to his people.
