The Minister of State for Health, Dr Iziaq Salako has apppointed the Coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, to the National Cancer Control Technical Working Group
A statement by AHBN’s Sadiq S. Malami, said Dr Magashi alongside others were nominated and appointed as members of the Technical Working Group.
“We are pleased to announce the Nomination and appointment of Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, the CEO and Coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) as a Member of the Nigeria National Cancer Control Technical Working Group by the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare.
According to the statement, the Technical Working Group were inaugurated at the Minister of State’s Conference Room in the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Abuja.
it added that Dr Magashi looks forward to contributing to cancer prevention, early detection, and strengthening financing, accountability and care systems, while supporting strategies that improve outcomes for patients, survivors, and advocates.
Health Reporters Newspaper reports that the apppointment marks an important step toward strengthening Nigeria’s cancer response in line with the National Cancer Control Strategy (2026-2030).
