A research has shown that after accident, Hypertension which is caused by High Blood Pressure, is the major cause of deaths in Africa.
The overall best 2012 graduate of cardiology from the ‘Memorial Sa’ad Medical Centre of the University of Cairo, Egypt, Dr. AhmedAbdulrahman Mohammed revealed this in an interactive session with newsmen in Bauchi.
Dr. Mohammed who is a Nigerian citizen and also an indigene of Bauchi state, further observed that lack of technology, inadequate electricity supply and befitting materials in Nigerian hospitals are the bane of the problem bedeviling the health sector in the country.
He Ahmed noted that his decision to specialize in cardiology was informed by the consideration of inadequate experts in the nation and the frequent deaths of patients who suffer from heart related diseases to specialize in the treatment of such diseases.
The Cardiologist, who observed that all Nations that excelled in medicine have advanced technologically, advised government and institutions in Nigeria to accord priority to the profession so that more students would be motivated to study it.
