UNICEF meets stakeholders over programmes in Adamawa

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has commenced mid-year review meetings with officials of Adamawa state Government and other stakeholders on progress and challenges in the areas of its intervention in the state.

Head of UNICEF field office in Bauchi, Dr, Abdulai Kaikai, made the remark in Yola, the state capital while addressing stakeholders who attended the meeting.

He said that UNICEF provides assistance in education; health, nutrition, child protection, water and sanitation sectors in the state.

Represented by Mrs. Mairama Bukar, UNICEF education specialist, Dr. Kaikai said the meeting was called to review and identify key priority areas for the second half of 2016 and 2017.

Also speaking, UNICEF Communication Officer, Mr Samuel Kaluu, said that the mid-year review would also involve adoption of new approach that would enhance greater synergy and improve the methodololgy the organisation could access funds.

In his remarks at the meeting, Secretary to the state government, Dr. Umar Bindir, reiterated the commitment of the government to partner with UNICEF to enhance its intervention in the state.

Representatives of organisations benefiting from UNICEF programmes in Adamawa, who attended the meeting, commended the fund for the assistance rendered to them.
