The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said its latest cutting-edge mobile laboratory will ensure 100 per cent water safety in the country.
The Acting Director-General of NAFDAC, Mrs Yetunde Oni, stated this in Enugu while addressing the agency’s staff in South East on the new restructuring and re-branding of the agency.
Represented by Director of Planning, Research and Statistics,Professor Samson Adebayo, Mrs. Oni said mobile laboratory for water, called `Move 100’, would bring transformation to water hygiene and safety.
She said that the mobile laboratory would ensure instant testing of water even in the remotest part of the country in order to ensure that issue of unsafe water would be history.
The acting director-general said that the agency was working through various associations and unions to drive home the success of the agency.
“What we do now is to embark on building the capacity of the associations and unions to engage in best international practices instead of wielding a big sanction and stick over them. We are succeeding in this regard and this had build-up the capacity of our local manufacturers and producers instead of closing them” she said.
She urged the staff to be dedicated to their duties by being meticulous, firm, decisive and up-right in action against fake and sub-standard drugs and foods.
