Dr. Amina Bello ‎said the initiative was a welcome development, adding that when implemented, it would assist citizens especially those at the rural areas in accessing quality and affordable healthcare services.

She said the contribution of N150 per person on a monthly basis in order to access healthcare services at any recognized hospital in the state would reduce greatly the burden faced by people in accessing healthcare services in the state.

She assured members of the committee of her personal involvement in the full implementation of the scheme especially as it affects women and children.‎

The wife of the governor urged members of the committee to work on grey areas aimed at sustaining the scheme noting that sustainability of the project was a major obstacle which should be prevented‎.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the HCF-TWG who is also the Permanent Secretary at the state Ministry of Health, Dr. Makun Sidi‎, said the state government was committed to the full implementation of the scheme as it has paid its own counterpart fund of N100 million through the Federal Ministry of Health, to access the N1.5 billion World Bank
Healthcare Fund.

Dr. Makun Sidi said uder the scheme, children under the age of five would have access to free healthcare services.

He urged people of the state to key into the Contributory Healthcare Insurance Scheme which he noted would make services accessible and affordable.

Our correspondent report that the HCF-TWG ‎conferred the governor’s wife as Champion of the scheme in the state.
