Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) and E4A-MamaYe are delighted to announce that the secretariat of AHBN has moved to Nigeria where the AHBN Coordinator, Aminu Magashi Garba is located. This is an exciting development and consistent with the long held strategic vision for the network to be ‘Africa led and Africa based’.

The new AHBN secretariat is now the ‘Community Health and Research Initiative’ (CHR), which is a leader and national NGO working on health budget advocacy in Nigeria. As part of the transition E4A-MamaYe have been working with the CHR team to hand over the network, including newsletters and social media which are now being managed by CHR. E4A-MamaYe will continue to support CHR team to ensure a smooth transition.

“This move means an opportunity for AHBN to build upon its regional connections and expand the network as an independent, key advocacy player in the African region. We look forward to our continued collaboration in the future.” Rachel Cullen, Programme Director, E4A-MamaYe

“The move has position AHBN to become a strategic player in the African region and support advocacy for increased domestic spending in line with many local and international commitments and initiatives as well as ensure accountability and transparency in spending for health” Aminu Magashi Garba AHBN Coordinator

If you have any questions about this transition, and how you can actively participate and enhance your advocacy skills with AHBN please contact: info@africahbn.org.
