The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has commended the Federal Government of Nigeria on the release of $3.75 million through the Ministry of Health in support of the 2025 family planning allocation.
This represents approximately 94 percent of the approved budget and signals a strong commitment to protecting critical investments that advance the health and rights of women and girls across the country.
The Coordinator of AHBN, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, said the milestone underscores the importance of sustained, evidence driven advocacy and constructive engagement with government, which remains central to AHBN’s work on family planning financing.
Health Reporters Newspaper reports that working alongside partners, AHBN has consistently advance budget tracking, budgetary allocation and timely releases both at national and sub-national levels.
As Nigeria celebrate this progress, AHBN reaffirms its commitment to strengthening accountability for women’s health financing in the country.
“Continued collaboration with government and partners will be essential to sustain momentum, safeguard gains, and ensure that allocated resources deliver meaningful impact for those who need them most,” the AHBN added.
