The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) has sought for the integration of family planning commodities into the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KASCHMA).

The AHBN delegation led by Advocacy and Accountability Specialist, Malam Aqibu Hamisu, made the call when they paid advocacy visit to the Executive Secretary of KASCHMA, Dr Rahila Mukhtar in her office.

During the visit, Malam Aqibu, alongside, Malam Sulaiman Umar Jalo,Knowledge Management Officer, and Muhammad Rabiu, Logistics Officer, discussed the integration of family planning commodities into the agency’s benefits package.

The meeting focused on advocating for the inclusion of essential family planning commodities in addition to the counseling and testing services currently provided under the KASCHMA scheme.

In her remarks, Dr Rahila expressed appreciation for AHBN’s continuous support and contributions toward strengthening healthcare delivery in Kano State.

She noted that KASCHMA has already initiated plans to incorporate family planning commodities into its service package, following a comprehensive review conducted by the KASCHMA Capitation Review Committee.

The executive secretary further explained that once the proposed capitation adjustments are approved, the agency will be well-positioned to fully integrate family planning commodities and enhance the overall quality of services offered to beneficiaries.
