The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foudnation) has announced the activation of a Non-Government Organisation (NGO), Vulnerable People Support and Development Initiative.

In a statement, the AMG Foundation Director of Operations, Jalo Sulaiman, said the NGO was founded in 2022 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on November 30, 2022.

He said the activation becomes necessary for the fact that Kano State has a high number of Almajiri children, vulnerable women and disable, as well as highest number of out of school children according to a recent survey conducted by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) who roam the streets of Kano in search of food.

“The recent re-assigning of an active commissioner, passionate about the establishment of People with Disability Commission and implementation of social protection policy to head the Ministry of Women, Children and Disable is a great advantage for an advocacy.

In line with the above, Hannatu Suleiman Abba and Aftahna Dahiru Sarina, having leading advocacy for the development of people with disability in multiple flat forms have been chosen to lead the Vulnerable People Support and Development Initiative as Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator respectively with the support of AMG Foundation,” Sulaiman said.

He added that the AMG Foundation will in the next 12 months (January to December 2025) provide their monthly allowance and data, as well as offer technical and administrative support.

The director of operations invited board members of the organisation and friends of the duo to attend the symbolic signing of contract letters of the appointed persons on Monday, December 30, at the AHBN building in Kano.
