AMG Foundation commits N1.3m to support volunteer fire fighters

The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation) has announced a donation of N1,350,000 as stipend to support 30 out of the 50 repentant thugs trained as fire fighters.

The Chairman of AMG Foundation, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba who announced the foundation’s commitment, said each of the 30 youths would be supported with N15,000 each month for three months.

A statement by AMG Foundation’s Director of Operation, Sulaiman Jalo, said the commitment was announced at the Police Officers Mess, Bompai, Kano during the flag off of the training.

It would be recall that 50 reformed youth were trained and would be posted to various markets and motor parks to work as Fire Fighters Ambassadors.

Dr Magashi also called on other stakeholders to support the youth to become productive members of the society.

He further pledged to support additional 50 of the youth to be trained as Sanitation and Traffic Volunteers in collaboration with the relevant agencies.

“It is hope that the Kano State Government will scale up this initiative for the betterment of the state,” he said.

The initiative is a partnership between the Kano Command of the Federal Fire Service, the AMG Foundation, Kano Police Command and YOSPIS, aimed at strengthening peaceful coexistence in the state.
