The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMGF) has announced the launch of its Health Journalism and Frontline Workers’ Awards for the year 2025.
The award was an initiative to celebrate excellence in health journalism and honour Nigeria’s unsung healthcare heroes, frontline workers in primary healthcare facilities.
Scheduled for 2025 in Abuja, the awards aim to spotlight the efforts of journalists and healthcare workers in improving public health outcomes across the country.
During the 2024 Annual Award of Excellence for Frontline Health Workers, founder of AMGF, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, highlighted the motivation behind the initiative, emphasising the dedication of grassroots health workers, especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also underscored the importance of collaboration with NGOs and communities in recognising these efforts.
Key innovations for the 2025 edition include workplace recognition visits, a significant increase in prize value, and the introduction of a new category to honour health journalists who report impactful grassroots stories.
The awards will expand to more states beyond Abuja, Kano, and Bauchi, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to fostering healthier communities nationwide.
Recipients, such as Muhammad Yahaya and Zainab Ladan, expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed their dedication to improving healthcare delivery.
A press statement will be included in the 2025 edition of the AMG Award of Excellence, further amplifying the event’s impact.
