The fifth edition (2025) of the Late Dr Shehi Ali Abubakar Annual Award for Radiologists and Radiographers has honoured four outstanding Radiologists and Radiographers in Kano State.
The award was instituted in 2021 by the Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMGF) to annually identify and honour outstanding Radiologists and Radiographers in memory of late Dr Shehi Ali, a renowned radio oncologist and philanthropist who died while serving the populace.
A statement by AMGF’s Director of Operations, Mallam Jalo Sulaiman, said the Foundation instituted the award in memory of late Dr Shehi Ali Abubakar, to inspire upcoming professionals to emulate his conduct.
“The AMGF instituted this award in memory of late Dr Shehi Ali Abubakar, a renowned health expert and philanthropist par excellence, with a view to inspiring upcoming professionals to emulate his conduct,” Mallam Jalo stated.
The four winners celebrated are; “Dr. Mashhud Hadi Gwadabe, AKTH – Outstanding Resident Doctor of the Year; Dr Nura Sani, AKTH – Outstanding Resident Doctor of the Year; Umar Muhammad, AKTH – Outstanding Radiographer of the Year and Umma Yahya Bala, MMSH – Outstanding Radiographer of the Year.”
In their separate remarks, participants and awardees lauded the sustained initiative and thanked the AMG Foundation for its efforts in advancing healthcare services in Kano state and beyond.
Health Reporters Newspaper reports that the event was graced by notable individuals, government officials and organizations, including the CEO of Pharma Plus Nigeria, Pharm. Ahmad Ibrahim Yakasai.
Others are; Prof. Muhammad A. Abbas, DG, Kano Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC), Mukhtar Rabi’u Abubakar, Deputy Director, Project Manager, State Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre, heads of NGOs, friends and families of the awardees, and the media.
