The Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BSPHCDA), has commended Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) under its Partnership for Advocacy n Child and Family Health (PACFaH) project for continuous advocacy to improve Routine Immunization financing.
Chairman of the agency, Pharmacist Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa, who made the commendation also hailed the CHR/PACFaH initiative of mobilizing CSOs to advocate for adequate immunization financing, timely funds releases as well as transparent and accountable utilization of funds for immunization.
Our correspondent reports that Pharmacist Gamawa made the comment during an advocacy visit to him by members of Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for MNCH (BaSAM) supported by CHR/PACFaH in his office, to request for involvement of CSOs in the state budget preparation process to strengthen accountability and transparency.
The SPHCDA boss said the requests of the advocacy team are vital issues that are of great significance in the state’s RI services, as he assured that the CSOs will be involved in every activity on immunization and information will be made available to them to show transparency in the activities of the agency.
He also assured BaSAM members that they will be officially invited to participate in the state immunization working group meetings and went further to mention that the state has made plans on how to sustain immunization funding when the MoU for RI financing elapses.
The BaSAM advocacy team under the leadership of Dr. M H Daiyabu, Hajiya Maryam Garba and Hajiya Yagana Gidado, had advocated for the creation of a transparency and accountability advocacy Working Group in the state Routine Immunization Working Group (RIWG), to strengthen indigenous CSOs support and participation in state immunization activities.
