Bauchi releases 25% fund for Routine Immunization

Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state has approved the payment of the 25 per cent for the quadripartite agreement on Routine Immunization.

The Co-chair of Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (BaSAM), Hajiya Maryam Garba revealed this while briefing members of the group on the outcome of their advocacy visit to the state Commissioner of Health.

Speaking during BaSAM’s monthly meeting held at Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi, Hajiya Maryam said the 25 percent payment will be made in two installment between the months of August and September, adding that Governor Abubakar has already ordered the state Commissioner of Finance for effective payment.

She added that the commissioner has assured that the state government will either increase or sustained 15 per cent of the state total budget to health sector in the 2017 budget.

On Routine Immunization budget code, Hajiya Maryam stated that the state Commissioner for Health has liaised with the state Commissioner of Budget and Planning to create RI budget code.

She stressed that advocacy needs to be sustained to influence the Ministry of Health to intimate the State Planning Commission to make provision for a RI budget through making collaboration with the National Planning Commission, Abuja.
