The Bauchi state government has targeted to provide free medical services to over 1.9 million pregnant women and children in this year’s free Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) treatment week.
Chairman of Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BASPHCD), Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa stated this in Bauchi at the flagging voff ceremony of the MNCH week.
He explained that all services will be provided during the week which will last from February 8 to 13 free of charge, at the four designated centres in each ward across the 20 local government areas of the state.
Pharmacist Gamawa said during the week health intervention packages in the areas of routine immunization, polio and measles vaccine, vitamin A supplements, screening for malnutrition and treatment of minor illnesses.
“There will also be a package for Anti-Natal Clinic (ANC) like folic
acid, anti malaria drugs to encourage pregnant women, health talk on family planning, Lassa fever and HIV among others,” he added.
