The Bauchi State Zero Dose Learning Hub Community of Practice (CoP) has carried out a joint oversight with the State House of Assembly to some selected facilities in Ganjuwa LGA of the state.
The Bauchi State ZDLH Tean and the legislators with support from the African Health Budget Network (AHBN), carried the joint oversight to assess immunization services in the Ganjuwa LGA.
The visiting legislators were received by the Director Primary Health Care of Ganjuwa LGA Mal Ibrahim Adamu alongside other officials in the LGA including the facility managers who took the team round to inspect the facility.
The team were led by the Assembly Committee Chairmen on Health, Lawal Dauda, that of Appropriation Mohammed Wanzam, and Nutrition Ahmed Maikudi inspected solar-powered cold chain equipment, record harmonization, financial management under the BHCPF, sanitation, and 2025 work plans at selected facilities.
The legislators were supported by the Zero Dose Learning Hub Community of Practice (CoP) under the leadership of Mr Jinjiri Garba the CSO Chairman of the CoP and the active support and coordination of the AHBN Bauchi State Focal Person Dr Hassan Shuaibu Musa.
The CoP team noted improved infrastructure and service delivery, including additional cold chain equipment attributed to the CoP advocacy.
The team, however, noted the need for stakeholders to step up efforts to ensure cross-border synchronization when planning and carrying out immunization activities with the neighbouring Jigawa, and Gombe States.
They also observed the need for the CoP to advocate for support to the LGA in providing motorcycles and logistic support to local immunization supervisors, community resource groups, and as well push for the absorption of the trained volunteers who have been supporting the provision of services across the State.
The visiting CoP members noted significant improvement in both infrastructure and equipments as the LGA received an additional cold chain infrastructure which is procured partly due to the intense CoP advocacy to do so, the team also acknowledged improvement in service delivery across all PHC components despite the ongoing renovation at the Kafin Liman facility.
The law makers promised to engage relevant authority at the highest level possible to address all observed challenges.
AHBN State Focal Person, Dr Hassan Shuaibu Musa, commended the Assembly for ensuring the release of the N872 million 2025 immunization budget and conveyed the appreciation of the network’s national leadership.
He conveyed the appreciation of the National Coordinator of AHBN, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba and other stakeholders of the Zero Dose Learning Hub.
