Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State has allocated over 16 per cent of total state 2017 budget to Health sector,reaching the Abuja declaration of 2001. The presentation was made today at the state assembly, where the allocation is a commitment towards sustainable development.
The governor presented a proposed 2017 budget of N145 billion to the State House of Assembly with a proposed recurrent expenditure of N58 billion equivalent to 40% of the total budget and capital expenditure of N86 billion 60 per cent of the total budget in the budget tagged “budget of sustainable development”
He said: “We are committed to implement our 5 point health agenda by strengthening health sector to reduce maternal and child death and improve immunisation, implementation of national guideline for Primary Healthcare under roof and in line with that we have committed over 16 per cent of the 2017 budget to health sector.”

So far the state government has been the only state in Nigeria which reached the 15 per cent Abuja declaration on Health
