The Bayero University Medical Students Association (BUMSA) has congratulated Dr Aminu Magashi Garba over his recent appointment by the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the Technical Adviser to the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
In a letter dated November 21, 2024 and signed by the BUMSA president, Hashim Jabir Ibrahim, the medical students lauded the foresight of Governor Yusuf for appointing Dr Magashi as the technical lead for the new ministry, adding that it is timely and well deserved.
Parts of the letter read; “we celebrate your achievement and recognize your dedication to public service. Your leadership and expertise will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the betterment of Kano State.”
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is one of the three new ministries created in early 2024 year by Governor Abba Yusuf led administration.
On Tuesday, November 19, 2024 organised a stakeholders’ forum on agenda setting for the ministry which was attended by key and relevant stakeholders including government officials, Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs), development partners and the media.
Declaring the forum opened, the Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (HOD), thanked Governor Yusuf for creating and supporting the ministry, which she said will go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of the good people of the state.
While unveiling the agenda setting, the Technical Adviser to the ministry, Dr Magashi called on all the stakeholders to support the ministry to achieve its set objectives.
Dr Magashi is the Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) National Health Policy and Planning Committee (2024 to 2026) and also served as the Vice President of Nigerian Medical Students Association (NiMSA) 1997/98.
