President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has congratulated the Kano State Government over the passage of Kano Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) Bill and pledged his commitment to work with the state to ensure it succeeds. He said the establishment of the fund is a good initiative to guarantee sustainable health financing.
Our correspondent report that Aliko Dangote states this during the Mid-year review meeting between himself, Bill Gates and Kano State Government on the new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the trio in February 2017 for Child Health.
On Routine Immunization financing for the state, he encouraged the state to ensure timely release of Routine Immunization (RI) funds to reach its 100 per cent funding commitment before the end of 2017, this he said will boost coverage and prevent childhood diseases like Pneumonia and Diarrhea.
In his response, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, thanked the two MoU partners for the previous RI MoU support which expired in December 2016. He said the state is grateful for the new MoU which is statutory on child health care, stating his commitment to healthcare financing in the state.
Health reporters gathered that the review is the first for the state after signing the MoU which will elapse by December 2021.
