The Chair of the Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation), Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, has commanded the state government for the passage of the Kano State Social Protection Agency Bill, 2025.

The State House of Assembly has passed the Kano State Social Protection Agency Bill, 2025, which paved the way for the establishment of an agency that will provide assistance to the most vulnerable groups in the state.

The passage was sequel to deliberations on the floor of the house during plenary presided over by the Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

It was stated that the agency’s primary objective is to offer support to the less privileged, aged people, and citizens in need of health, education, and job creation services.

The majority leader, Lawan Hussaini Dala pointed out that, if assented, the social protection agency will be headed by a director general with experience in social services, along with a board of trustees comprising representatives from various ministries and partner organisations.

He emphasised that the agency aims to reduce the vulnerability of citizens and enhance their living conditions.

Hon. Dala stressed that, the agency’s establishment is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of Kano State residents.

Commenting on the passage of the bill, Dr Magashi, who is also the Founder and Coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), respectfully called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for speedy assent of the law and supplementary budget to finance the agency in 2025.
