The Chairman of the AMG Foundation, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, on Tuesday hosted the Kano State of Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation at the headquarters of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) in Abuja.
The visit led by the Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (HOD), and her senior management team, was a follow-up on an earlier meeting where Dr Magashi pledged to support the ministry’s inception phase.
The chairman of the AMG Foundation, Dr Magashi had during a visit to the ministry pledged support focusing on; Convening a one-day stakeholders’ forum on the proposed Kano State Humanitarian Agenda.
Facilitating a two-day working visit to Abuja to establish partnerships with federal agencies and the United Nations and developing the 2025 Annual Operational Plan and 5-Year Strategic Plan.
Other are establishing the Kano State Humanitarian Investment Trust Fund and forming the Kano State Inter-Ministerial Coordination Committee on Humanitarian Response.
In her opening remarks, the commissioner Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani expressed gratitude to AMG Foundation and assured collective efforts to enhance the ministry’s impact.
The partnership with AMG Foundation is crucial in addressing the current Humanitarian challenges in Nigeria, particularly in Kano State. We are committed to providing effective humanitarian services to the most vulnerable populations,” she said.
Responding, Dr Magashi emphasised the importance of inter-ministerial meetings and establishing a Humanitarian Relief Fund for emergency responses.
He said timely interventions can significantly mitigate the effects of disasters and conflicts.
“We must work together to ensure effective response mechanisms,” Dr Magashi said.
In related development, Commissioner Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (HOD) paid a familiarization visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mr. Abel O. Eniten.
A statement by the Director of Public Enlightenment of the ministry, Halima Sani Gadanya, said the permanent secretary commended the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his good work and deserving full recommendations.
Mr Eniten assured that the Federal Ministry will give full support to the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and advised the Honourable Commissioner to have a proper mandate, vision, and mission for the Ministry.
The commissioner thanked and commended the permanent secretary and assured him that her ministry is ready and fully set to work together with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation
