The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has pledged to support the Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health (PACFaH) advocacy to improve immunization, family planning, nutrition and increased access to amoxicilline and Zinc ORS as first line treatment for pneumonia and Diarrhea in Kano State.
The emir spoke when he received a coalition advocacy for improved child and family health in Nigeria during advocacy and Media dialogue with traditional, community, religious leaders and faith based organization in the state organized by the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria under the auspices of PACFaH.
Emir Sanusi explained the funding challenge which is a major setback to health delivery system and coverage of services in the state to the coalition, but assured the CSOs of his commitment to ensure adequate community participation and awareness creation for acceptance of health services for the four PACFaH issue areas.
He also promised to engage the state government to ensure that funds are made available with emphasis on how the state will sustain its immunization financing and also provide adequate funds as well as timely releases of the funds allocated for health.
“Because of the importance of Routine Immunization, I will advise the government and partners to liaise with the emirate council committee on health to work harmoniously based on the existing structures they have,” he said.
The emir further said he will continue to encourage those who have the means to give their support and continues awareness campaign for improved funding of child and family health in the state
