The Federal Government has restated its commitment to deliver better health system in the country.
Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen on the occasion of Nigeria’s 56 Independence Anniversary in Abuja at the weekend.
According to him, the Federal Government wants to see Nigerians celebrating not only 56 but 60 and 70 in good health.
He said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government wanted to ensure that every Nigerian have access to quality health irrespective of age, class and social status.
Professor Adewole urged stakeholders in the health sector to uphold liability and transparency in keeping with the vision of Mr President and closing the gap between the rich and the poor.
He noted that the office of the president had mandated him to give a monthly report as part of the transparency bid of the present administration.
According to him, if we can give the above listed freely, then, we can look at other areas subsequently because we cannot cover everything at a go, but we must start from somewhere.
The minister noted the strategy as breath before death; he also said that investing in primary health care was key to getting our health system right.
