The Ferdinand Foundation International, a non-profit organisation, said it is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to the underserved and vulnerable populations in the country.

President of the foundation, Dr Ferdinand Osuagwu made this known in an interview with Health Reporters on Wednesday in Abuja.

Osuagwu said that the foundation’s programmes would cover the widows, orphans, the elderly, individuals with mental health issues and substance abusers.

“Through impactful programmes, the foundation aims to ensure that these marginalised groups have equal access to resources, healthcare and education,” he said.

He said that the foundation’s mission was to ensure equal access to resources, healthcare, education and justice for marginalised groups, enabling them to realise their full potential and contribute to society.

He also explained that he founded Ferdinand Foundation International to bridge these gaps.

“The foundation’s early-stage initiatives have already made significant impacts on widows, women and children in underserved communities, providing them with essential resources and empowerment.

“The foundation just hosted the maiden edition of the Ferdinand Foundation International Annual Scholars Award 2024 in Imo.

“This award ceremony aims to motivate students from marginalised backgrounds, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to education and empowerment,” he said.

Speaking on the critical issue of addressing mental health, he said that the foundation would be advancing mental health awareness and combating climate change through community-based interventions and advocacy.

“We will be raising awareness about mental health because it is essential and it reduces stigma and discrimination,” he explained.
