The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Abdullahi Candido, has called on women to help sensitise members of their communities on the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine.

A statement by the council’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Mrs Patience Olaloye, said the chairman spoke at a forum organised to commemorate the 2021 International Women’s Day.

He called on residents, especially those with underline ailments to come forward for the vaccination.

Candido urged all Nigerians to support the efforts of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in its quest to rid the country of COVID-19.

The Chairman also commended the efforts of Nigerian women, such as Dr Ngozi Okojo-Iweala, Hajia Amina Muhammed and others who had made the country proud in the international community.

He also enjoined other women to be proactive in their contributions to national and international development, while urging female workers to help mitigate corrupt tendencies in the council.

In her remarks, Mrs Abisola Abdullahi, Secretary of the council, admonished women at the grassroots to follow their dreams and aspirations with a view to achieving their set goals in life.
