Jigawa targets 1.7m children for Polio Immunization

The Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, says it is targetting about 1.7 million children for immunisation in the current round of polio campaign.

Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim, stated this in an interview with the newsmen in Dutse, the state capital on Sunday.

Dr. Ibrahim said that the government had provided enough Oral Polio Vaccines for the smooth conduct of the exercise.

He explained that trained personnel were currently conducting the exercise in the 27 local government areas of the state.

The executive secretary said that the five-day exercise which commenced on Saturday is going on smoothly.

He commended parents, traditional and religious leaders as well as stakeholders for their support.

Dr. Ibrahim said he inspected the campaign in Kazaure, Roni, Yankwashi and Gwiwa local areas of the state.

It would be recalled that the polio immunization campaign was launched on Saturday across the 27 local government areas of the state.
