The Kaduna State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA) said it had trained 177 District Heads with their scribes to strengthen Routine Immunisation in the state.
An Assistant Director in the agency, Malam Hamza Ikara, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Malam Ikara said the training was to strengthen routine immunisation in different health centres to achieve and sustain poliomyelitis eradication in the state. He said strengthening routine immunisation provides focused support and will sustain the gains already made
“The districts heads can serve as the vehicles for distributing other health interventions. We intend to train over 4,000 village heads and 6,000 Ward heads in routine immunisation and other health services.
“Routine Immunisation is carried out in all facilities and the traditional leaders have a role to play in order to encourage mothers and caregivers on the need to embrace immunisation.
Hamza Ikara said the state government plans to stock all health centres with sufficient vaccines.
He said: “The state government has plan to supply enough vaccines weekly for all health facilities so that they will not be out of stock. We are introducing the vaccines push system for all health facilities and have provided three vehicles that will convey the vaccines to different local government areas in the state.
