The Kano Network of Non-Governmental Organizations (KANET) has paid a courtesy visits to critical stakeholders in Kano State to forge an alliance towards improving the state’s health sector.
The organisation visited the Kano State Commissioner of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA) and the Kano State Health Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA).
Chair of KANET steering committee, Dr Musa Abdullahi Sufi, said the visits aimed to build and strengthen partnerships with healthcare service stakeholders in Kano, focusing on reducing maternal mortality rates, disease outbreaks, epidemiological diseases, and other social vices.
“Our mission is to collaborate with key health stakeholders to tackle the pressing health issues in our community,” he said.
Receiving the KANET team, Dr Labaran Abubakar Yusuf, Kano State Commissioner of Health, highlighted the present administration’s commitment to health development in the state.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration is committed to employing strategic methods and partnerships, such as the one with KANET, to address the various health-related issues in our state.
“Governor Yusuf has also pledged to provide sufficient healthcare services for Kano citizens.
“Our goal is to ensure that every citizen of Kano has access to quality healthcare services. We are committed to working with organizations like KANET to achieve this, the commissioner said.
On her part, WHO coordinator in the state, Dr Mayana Sanusi, emphasized the global phenomenon of NGOs focusing on humanitarian and volunteering services.
“NGOs play a crucial role in addressing societal issues. WHO is committed to strengthening partnerships with organizations like KANET to ensure universal health coverage and address pressing health concerns,” he said.
Alsi, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr Rahila Muktar expressed the agency’s eagerness to collaborate with NGOs like KANET to enhance awareness about its services.
“Our agency is keen on working with KANET to improve public awareness about our healthcare programs and services.”
Likewise, Director-General of SACA, Dr Usman Bashir, expressed a strong desire to work with KANET on public awareness campaigns related to AIDS and other health issues.
“KANET’s expertise and reach will be invaluable in our efforts to increase public awareness about AIDS and other critical health issues. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration.”
