Kano committed to strengthening routine immunisation

Kano State Government has restated its commitment to strengthen routine immunization in the state as it expanded health facilities that provided routine immunization to about 1, 200.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Kabiru Getso stated this on Wednesday in Kano at a press conference to mark the 8th African Vaccination Week.

“The state government has introduced new vaccines and engaged the private health facilities in routine immunization network.

“The present administration has achieved the immunization of over 80 per cent of children through the state Emergency Routine Immunization coordination centre.

“I commend traditional rulers, development partners and the media for the success recorded in strengthening routine immunization in the state,’’ he said.

Getso explained that the government had embarked on training and retraining of staff and awareness creation on benefits of immunisation.

Newsmen report that the 8th African Vaccination Week was marked in Kano with a reflection of government’s investment into routine immunization.
