Kano State Governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf at the weekend inaugurated a 65-member Transition Committee was put in place to ensure orderly transfer of power.
The committee has Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi as chairman, while PS Abdullahi Musa will serve as Secretary, with founder of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) Dr Aminu Magashi Garba and 62 others as members.
The governor-elect urged the gubernatorial transition committee to do their work diligently while carrying out their assignment, to bring about enduring peace and development to the ancient city.
Abba Yusuf added that the committee, was put in place to ensure orderly transfer of power in the state from the incumbent to the incoming and mandated them to look into the state government records and the executive branch records among others.
“This committee will set the stage running for our state’s journey to an enduring peace, economic prosperity and sustainable development.
“You are expected to carry out this assignment with professionalism, dedication, sincerity and patriotism as contained in your appointments letters or any other that will be issued from time to time.
“You are expected to play your roles with skills and efficiency. You should also be courageous, innovative and be responsible,” he said.
He, therefore called on the out-going administration and all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to cooperate with the transition committee and provide a seamless and befitting transition.
The governor-elect reiterated the commitment of the incoming administration to run a progressive government that will be responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
“We would work to right the wrongs. We are transiting to a government that will respect the rule of law and due process, bureaucracy and target driven governance, patriotic nationalism and people-oriented governance. As you do your work you should be guided by these,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the committee members, Dr Bichi gave the assurance that members will work very hard for the success of the assignment as contained in the terms of reference.
“Considering the challenges in the state all hands must be on deck. I want to guarantee you that, we are going to work very hard for the success of the assignment.
“I want to thank you on behalf of all of us for considering us worthy to undertake this very important assignment,” he said.
Dr Bichi equally commended the governor-elect for the approval of 30 sub-committees.
