Kano Gov’t to support YOSPIS tackle Youth Social Vices

The Kano State Government has pledged to support the Youth Society for the Prevention of Injustice and Social Vices (YOSPIS), in its effort of addressing rising social vices among youth in Kano State.

Executive Director of YOSPIS, Zainab Nasir Ahmad, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano.

She said the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Farouk Ibrahim made the pledge during an impactful advocacy visit by YOSPIS team alongside members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, to the SSG’s office

Ms Ahmad described the pledge as a significant move towards addressing rising social vices among youth in Kano State.

During the engagement, the delegation highlighted the growing concerns facing youth and women in Kano and across Nigeria, ranging from unemployment and drug abuse to gender-based violence and lack of access to quality education and empowerment opportunities.

Responding, the SSG, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, received the delegation and commended their commitment to youth development and social justice. 

He recognised the pressing challenges and assured the team of the government’s readiness to collaborate with YOSPIS and other stakeholders to implement sustainable solutions.

“We are truly inspired by the work YOSPIS is doing and I assure you that the Kano State Government is ready to provide all the necessary support to help achieve our shared goal of a safer and more prosperous future for our youth,” he said.

On her part, the Executive Director of YOSPIS expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the government’s commitment, stating that the partnership marks a promising step towards institutional collaboration aimed at improving the lives of young people in Kano.

“This is not just a pledge; it is a beacon of hope for thousands of young people in Kano. We are confident that with the government’s support, we can expand our outreach and impact more lives,” she said
