The Kano State Government has said that it would immunise over three million children below the age of five during the August round of Immunisation Plus Days in the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Health, Alhaji Usman Muhammed, made this known during a Press Conference.
He said that the exercise would take place across the 44 local government areas of the state in view of the upsurge of remnants of circulating vaccine derived polio virus.
Muhammed added that the vaccine derived polio virus were recently discovered in an environmental sample collected in Tarauni local government area of the state.
He said that the August immunisation would be offered at designated health facilities and house to house.
According to him, it is on record that resources have been committed into Supplemental Immunisation Activities campaigns, “with a view to meeting eligible children for immunisations.’’
The immunization will hold from August 3 to August 8.
