The Kano State Government has set aside N1.7 billion in the 2017 proposed budget for the construction of more than 400 Community Health Centres across the state, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Kabiru Getso, said.
The commissioner made the disclosure at a news conference after he defended funds allocated to the ministry for the 2017 fiscal year before the Kano State House of Assembly’s Committee on Health.
Dr. Getso said the community health centres would be constructed in 484 council wards of the state.
He explained that the school of Nursing and Midwifery at Dambatta Local Government Area would serve as training institution for personnel that would provide services in the proposed health centres.
Dr. Getso said the measure was part of the state government’s efforts to ensure effective and efficient health service delivery at the grassroots.
