Kano State Government said it is determined to improve the quality of health care services in the state to the door step of the ordinary people.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso disclosed this at a three day Operational Guidelines Stakeholders Validation workshop in collaboration with MNCH2 and CHR held in Kaduna state.
The Commissioner who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Usman Bala Mohammed, said the three day validation workshop is part of government efforts and commitment towards improving the state health sector, established two new agencies Kano State Health trust fund (KHETFUND) and Private Health institution Management Agency (PHIMA) with a view to mobilized additional resources for health and regulate the activities of private health instituations to abide and conform to global best practices for healthcare services delivery.
He further highlighted that, part of this validation is to orient governing board members of KHETFUND and PHIMA on the law that established the two agencies.
The commissioner urged the participants to brainstorm and come up with appropriate guidelines that would of immense benefit to the teeming populace and commended the MNCH2 and CHR for collaborating with the ministry for actualizing this processes to the final stage.
In their remarks, the chairman governing board KHETFUND Dr Usman Warshi Haruna and Chairman PHIMA, Pharmacist Nasiru Danladi Karaye, expressed their appreciation to the present administration for giving them the chance to serve the humanity in this direction and pledged to put in their best for the confidence reposed in them.
The representative of the partners agencies MNCH2, CHR and women for health restated their continue readiness in collaborating with the ministry of health for better and sustainable health services in the state.
