The former Chairman of the Kano State 2023 Health Transition Committee, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, has organised a reunion dinner for former members of the committee at the AHBN Building.
In a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere, the former members of the committee dined, interacted and shared success stories and challenges of the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In his welcome remarks, the host, Dr Magashi commended Governor Yusuf led administration for implementing the recommendations provided by former Transition Health Committee in its 78-page report and achieving the following milestone among others:
“Repositioned Kano State Contributory Health Management Agency (KASCHMA) and registered 300,000 vulnerable including those in correctional centres and other public facilities into the state insurance scheme to access healthcare services and reduce out of pocket spending
“Carried out infrastructural projects in different primary and secondary hospitals in the state for effective service delivery. And the repositioned the state Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) with the capacity to manufacture local drugs.
The former members also resolved among others to produce a diary that will document all the activities it had conducted, pay courtesy visits to the ministries and agencies where its former members are heading (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, KASCHMA, KHETFUND, DMCSA, KCDC) in order to congratulate, motivate, advice and support them to deliver and make impact in the lives of Kano teaming populace.
Some of the dignitaries that attended the event are; Pharmacist Gali Sule, Director General of the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency, Dr Rahila Mukhtar, Executive Secretary, Kano State Contributory Health Management Agency and Dr Muhammad Adamu Abbas, Director General, Kano State Centre for Disease Control.
Others are, Dr Musa M. Bello, Consultant Physician, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Dr Fatima Zaharaddin, Executive Secretary, Kano State Health Trust Fund and Hajiya Aishatu Abdulkadir Makkatu, Director, Medical Services, State Primary Healthcare Management Board.
