The Kano State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, has led a delegation from her ministry on a strategic visit to the World Bank office in Abuja.
The delegation included Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, Technical Adviser; Alhaji Muttaka Iliyasu, Permanent Secretary; Hajiya Bilkisu Sha’fiu, Director of Women; and Hajiya Hauwa Suleiman, Director of Child.
The team was received by Mr. Michael Ilesanmi, Senior Development Specialist and Task Team Leader for the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP) at The World Bank Nigeria.
During the meeting, the World Bank team provided useful information that may support the Kano State Government in fulfilling the criteria to express interest and join the project, a $500 million project funded by the World Bank and supervised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development alongside the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

This initiative is designed to enhance women’s economic empowerment by removing barriers to women’s prosperity, strengthening their social and economic assets, and promoting inclusive poverty reduction through support for women’s groups at scale.
The Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs aligns closely with the NFWP’s objectives, recognising that women’s economic empowerment is crucial for sustainable development.
With a strong commitment to gender inclusion and participation, the ministry aims to leverage the NFWP to enhance women’s access to financial resources, skills development, and livelihood opportunities.
