The Kebbi State Government in collaboration with UNICEF has begun micro-plan advocacy on immunisation, nutrition, girl- child education, water, sanitation and hygiene.
The state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Umar Kambaza, who stated this during a meeting between the state government officials and UNICEF in Birnin Kebbi, told journalists that the traditional and religious leaders would be part of the advocacy.

He said the state government had also invited stakeholders from its nine ministries which include; Health, Education, Water Resources, Environment and Women Affairs for the advocacy to be inclusive.
“So far, the responses of the stakeholders have been very positive and the state government is ready to enforce whatever decision is reached. We only need to sensitise the people before we enforce them and that is what we are doing now,” he said.
He said emergency response team had been established to deal with the recent outbreak of measles and diarrhoea in the state.
“We have our emergency response team comprising of the stakeholders and partners like WHO, UNICEF, EU, Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and others. We are in control of the diarrhoea situation.”
According to him, the outbreak of the diseases occurs virtually every year during rainfall when the water level is high.
“We have re-positioned our drugs; we are getting support and advice from the Federal Ministry of Health and the Primary Health Care Development Agency,” he added.
